Club Updates - September

Hello CRCTC Members!

Listed below are September updates on activities that may be of interest.

Before we get to September, I want to report a very successful 20th anniversary celebration on Saturday August 24th. Thank you to all the past and current club members who were able to attend. And, a big thank you to the planning committee members for their work in producing a great party. The video presented at the celebration is available on the website. As well as photos from the event.

Garage Sale Rescheduled:  September 6 and 7.  Yes - this week Friday and Saturday!
Volunteers are needed! If you can come to help even for a few hours, it would be much appreciated.

Earthdog Practice: September 20th

CRCTC is holding an earthdog practice prior to the earthdog tests on 9/21 and 9/22.
Practice will be held from 6:00 - 7:30 pm
$5 per dog per run. Cash or check only.
Location: Quarles property: 24491 S Larkin Road, Beavercreek, 97004
No reservation needed.

Earthdog Tests: September 21 and 22

The annual earthdog tests are scheduled for Saturday September 21 (morning and afternoon tests) and Sunday September 22 (morning test).

Toto Trot:  Saturday September 28
Registration/check in: 9 AM. Walk starts: 9:30 AM.

Commonwealth Lake Park, Portland (Cedar Hills), OR (same location as last year).

Proceeds benefit Oregon’s only full-time charity focused on fighting animal hunger! thepongofund.org
Suggested donation - $20/family; additional donations appreciated.

The route will include two distance options: a 0.8 mile route around the lake or a 1.5 mile route around the lake and through the woods.

2025 CRCTC Calendar - Submission due date: October 1

It’s time to submit your favorite photos of your Cairn buddies for the 2025 CRCTC calendar fundraising event!
Send full size (or cropped) at full resolution photos of your favorite Cairns to Debbie Blanchard, dablanchard@comcast.net, by October 1.  If scanning, please scan at 300 DPI.

Please ensure you have permission from the photographer to submit.  Please include the name of the Cairn(s), Owners name(s) and Home city, state.

Tracking Clinic:  October 12

The date for the tracking clinic has been changed to Saturday, October 12th (previously scheduled for Saturday October 19). There will be sessions in the AM and the PM for novice/try-it registrations.

A second tracking clinic has been scheduled for November 23rd. The focus will be on 'next-step' dogs (those who have experience in novice level tracking). Corners and handling skills will be included topics. This requires a location different from the novice location thus needs to be scheduled on a different day.
